Developing Your Eye, Day 6: Solitude

I didn’t take this photo, but I like it so much and it’s so perfect for today’s theme that I couldn’t resist using it. This is my cousin and his dog, enjoying a moment of solitude.

My cousin Carl and his dog. This beautiful photograph was taken by Carl’s wife Jill.

Now, I do have a little creative input of my own to add to this post. I’ve been playing with the Prisma app this weekend, and it’s really REALLY good. I’ve run this photo through the Wave and Candy settings and the results are shown below (click on the images to enlarge).

Finally for today, a quick note on the Rule of Thirds: after flicking through the menu on my camera and pressing lots of buttons, I found that I could opt to have the 3×3 grid onscreen as a permanent fixture to help with photographic composition. This will really help me in future. (The Prisma app also does the same thing. I am so impressed with it, I really am!)
